Very nice animation and color scheme, I might steal these colors ![]()
Looks very neat! What would a 3D image look like? (all these slices stacked?)
Yes, it is good a idea to visualize “a stack” of sample images.
I use(d) that kind of 3D images in LSA presentations / tutorials. (Usually on MNIST images of handwritten 5-ves.)
Is there a timeline for the judging process? Any (rough) idea when the results will be announced?
Hi Tom! We don’t have a hard deadline for the judging process, but we’re hoping to announce the winners in a few weeks. With all the wonderful submissions, our volunteer judges are taking their time to review them. We’ll provide an update on the timeline for winners next week.
Just out of curiosity: Do you always create your own color gradients? or do you have a source or library? Do you have some way of doing it? (doing it in a certain color space or so?) They generally look very smooth and nice!
I’m no good at generating color palettes on my own, but I’m not bad at identifying palettes that will work, so I generally grab palettes from Color Hunt or Coolors. I also occasionally use Swiss Colors or Adobe Color.
Thanks for sharing, didn’t know those!
Update: we will be reaching out to winners May 9-13, and will be announcing the winners here and on social media May 16!
Thank you to everyone who submitted entries into this contest! It was a blast to see all the amazing art you created. After deliberation by our judges, these are the winners:
Honorable Mention: ARTIST: Daniel Hoffmann, EXHIBIT: " The Memory of Persistence "
Staff Winner: ARTIST: Anton Antonov, EXHIBIT: " Rorschach mask animations projected over 3D surfaces "
3rd Place: ARTIST: Jacqueline Doan, EXHIBIT: " Kuramoto oscillators with phase lag "
2nd Place: ARTIST: Tom Verhoeff, EXHIBIT: " Sculpture from 18 congruent pieces "
1st Place: ARTIST: Frederick Wu, EXHIBIT: " Love heart jewelry IV: the giving tree "
I tried to make my own ranked list of the submissions, but couldn’t figure out how (it’s subjective), so I guess if you’re worried about not winning, don’t, because there’s another analysis saying that you’re all great community art posters. Just a reminder. Congrats and thanks again for sharing!
